Saudi Arabia’s Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has rejected social media claims that it approved a drug derived from active substances in camel urine to treat cancer.

In a post on X, the authority clarified that the claims are false, adding that the product in question contained a combination of vitamins and minerals intended to help meet the body’s daily nutritional needs.

It stressed that the product had no authorised therapeutic claims and had not been approved for treating cancer.

The SFDA dismissed reports suggesting otherwise, reiterating that the product’s registration as a nutritional supplement did not amount to approval as a medicine for cancer treatment.
