KARACHI: A man injured in a suspected robbery attempt in Ghaghar Phatak died while being transported to hospital, reportedly after waiting on the roadside for medical assistance.

According to police, the victim, identified as Abbas, was shot when he resisted an attempted robbery by armed suspects. He reportedly remained at the scene for a considerable time while waiting for an ambulance.

Bystanders at the scene were allegedly recording videos instead of helping the injured man, according to the report. An ambulance was eventually arranged to take him to Jinnah Hospital, approximately 43 kilometres away, but he died during the journey.

Police said preliminary investigations indicated that the shooting occurred when Abbas resisted the robbery attempt.
