Unknown individuals opened fire at the hujra (a guest house adjacent to the residence) of cricketer Naseem Shah in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lower Dir district, according to police. No injuries were reported in the incident, as the cricketer is busy preparing for the upcoming tri-nation series.
The main gate, windows, and a parked vehicle were damaged in the attack. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, and five suspects have been taken into custody.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 am on November 9. Authorities stated that initial findings suggest the attack is not linked to terrorism and may be related to a land dispute.
Naseem’s family remained unharmed, as the fast bowler is currently in Rawalpindi.
Naseem Shah’s father met the District Police Officer (DPO) of Lower Dir at his office, where the officer assured him that authorities would take strict action against the perpetrators.
The national squad, including Naseem, is preparing for a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, which will take place from November 11 to 15.
After that, he is set to join Pakistan’s lineup for the T20I tri-nation series featuring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore from November 17 to 29.
