A Lahore court on Saturday ordered release of a man arrested for allegedly assaulting a petrol pump worker after they reached a settlement.
The incident took place at a fuel station in Jubilee Town. According to the case details, the man had arrived in his SUV to refuel when the salesman asked him to stop smoking on the premises. The man allegedly attacked the employee and then drove away.
Police arrested the suspect after footage of the incident circulated widely on social media.
He was brought before the Judicial Magistrate by Chung police, who requested his 10-day police remand to investigate the case.
The petrol pump employee, however, informed the court that the incident took place due to a misunderstanding. He said the matter had been settled between the two and that he no longer wished to continue with the complaint.
In light of the complainant’s statement and the reported compromise, the magistrate discharged the suspect in the case and directed that he be released.
