The visit was conducted on the instructions of Water Corporation Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui. Other officials, including Intikhab Ahmed Rajput, Kazim Soomro, Azhar Iqbal Qazi and Ikhlaq Ahmed Rajput, also accompanied him.
During the visit, Syed Jawad Shah inspected the deployment of security personnel, surveillance systems and existing measures to protect sensitive installations. He directed the relevant officials to take necessary steps to strengthen security at the corporation's key facilities supplying water to Karachi.
According to a Water Corporation spokesperson, Shah will approach the deputy commissioner of Thatta and the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Thatta to request the deployment of permanent police pickets and regular patrolling around these installations.
The proposed security arrangements will cover Dhabeji Pumping Station, Gharo Pumping Station, Gharo Filter Plant and Chilya Intake Zero Point.
It is worth noting that the Dhabeji Pumping Complex is a sensitive installation that supplies water to Karachi. An uninterrupted power supply and the smooth functioning of the pumping system are essential to ensuring a continuous water supply to the city.
