Pakistani martial artist and world champion Shahzaib Rind expressed disappointment over the government's failure to deliver on financial commitments promised by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In a post on X, Shahzaib responded to a sports journalist who questioned why the government continues to ignore the celebrated athlete, noting that he deserves "respect and appreciation."
Shahzaib used the opportunity to call out unfulfilled promises, saying that the financial pledges made by government officials were never honoured.
“Our politicians are corrupt. Last time I won, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a cash prize of Rs5 million and Rs80 million to support my training camp and upcoming fights. It was all a lie. I never received a penny from them. They just take pictures, make fake promises, and forget. Shame,” he wrote in his post.
