Shocking murder in Surjani Town: Did neighbours notice anything?

KARACHI: A woman and her three children were brutally murdered in Surjani Town, Karachi, late at night, leaving residents of the area shocked and raising questions about whether anyone heard or witnessed anything during the incident.

The woman, identified as 34-year-old Mehwish, was found dead along with her three children. Speaking to Dialogue Pakistan, residents shared details about the family and the events surrounding the tragedy.

One resident said the husband and wife appeared to have a cordial relationship and that neighbours had never seen them involved in arguments. According to the resident, the electricity went out at around 7:30pm, and the family was later found murdered with a sharp-edged weapon.

Another resident said the husband was visibly shocked and began shouting after discovering the incident, alerting neighbours to what had happened.

Residents said two of the children were found lying on a sofa, while another child was discovered from another room. The mother was found in a separate room.

One neighbour said there had been no screams or unusual sounds coming from the house. “If we had heard anything, we could have helped,” the resident said.

Another resident called on the government to ensure justice for the victims, expressing frustration over the lack of accountability in cases where people lose their lives.

Police are investigating the incident and have taken the husband into custody for questioning.
