British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan and national karate champion Shahzaib Rind on Saturday arrived at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to meet Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting was held between the athletes and the top armyman to discuss sports in Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Army Chief praised both the athletes for their outstanding achievements in the field of sports.

"COAS appreciated both for their phenomenal achievements in the field of sports," the military's media wing said in a statement.

Gen Asim "expressed full confidence in Pakistan’s youth for their outstanding potential."

On April 20, Rind made the country proud after he defeated India's Rana Singh at the Karate Combat 45 held in Dubai.

Following the victory, Pakistani mixed martial arts fighter lashed out at the government for not supporting the "country’s heroes".

“If our heroes are supported accordingly, they can become role models for our youth. They will also be motivated and join sports,” he said while addressing the media upon his arrival in Quetta.

Reacting to Rindh's concerns, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti held a meeting with the Pakistani champion at CM House.

During the meeting, the provincial chief announced giving a government job and Rs2 million to the "proud of Balochistan and Pakistan".
