Former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran has died after battling cancer, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed on Monday.

In a statement, the ACB expressed sorrow over Zadran's death and paid tribute to his contribution to Afghanistan cricket, describing him as one of the country's pioneering cricketers.

According to the board, Zadran had been suffering from cancer and was receiving treatment at a hospital in India before his death.

The left-arm fast bowler represented Afghanistan in 44 One-Day Internationals and 36 Twenty20 Internationals during his international career. He was regarded as one of the key players during Afghanistan's rise in international cricket and featured in several landmark victories.
