NCCIA arrests father for making videos of own children for child pornography

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a man accused of filming his own children, aged between five and six, for child pornography and selling the videos for money, an agency official said on Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference, NCCIA Additional Director Shoaib Khan said the case involved a network in which videos of children were recorded and sold through the Telegram messaging application.

He said the network was also involved in producing videos of sexual abuse involving animals. The main suspect was from Skardu, while investigations were under way in Multan, Islamabad and South Punjab, he added.

Khan said the agency was also investigating cases involving online sexual harassment and had recently arrested a suspect following a complaint from Karachi.

He said the NCCIA had registered seven first information reports (FIRs) against call centres in Islamabad. According to the FIRs, investigators had seized between 13,000 and 14,000 devices. Khan also referred to fraud uncovered during raids on call centres, putting the amount at Rs5,000 billion to Rs6,000 billion.

The official warned the public against sharing one-time passwords (OTPs) and PINs, saying fraudulent websites had been designed to resemble genuine banking websites.

Khan said the agency was launching awareness campaigns at universities and schools to educate students and parents about online safety and monitoring children's mobile phone use. He added that action would also be taken against parents who knowingly failed to report their children's alleged involvement in crimes.
