India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested four Pakistani fishermen in the Sir Creek maritime region and seized their fishing boat, according to the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum.
The fishermen, who belong to Chach Jahan Khan, a coastal area of Sujawal district in Sindh, were taken into custody on Sunday, the forum said.
The arrested fishermen were identified as Abdul Qadir, Muhammad Musa, Asghar, and Ehsan Jat. Indian forces also seized a fibre fishing boat.
Indian authorities claim the fishermen were arrested for allegedly entering Indian territorial waters.
Arrests of Pakistani and Indian fishermen are frequent in the Sir Creek region due to a longstanding maritime boundary dispute between the two countries.
