Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has issued a public apology to Karate World Champion Shahzaib Rind over the “unjustified delay” in financial assistance earlier announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Rind’s training camps.
Taking to X, Minister Tarar acknowledged the delay and said it may have been the result of “miscommunication”. He reassured that the government values its athletes as “real heroes” and remains committed to supporting their efforts and achievements.
Tarar said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took “strict notice” after Shahzaib Rind publicly expressed disappointment over the government’s failure to release the promised funds, even after a year of the announcement.
Rind had revealed that he had been funding his training in the US through personal means due to the delay.
