Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has said that the fire at the KMC head office should not lead to allegations that any official record was destroyed.
Speaking about the fire at the KMC head office, Wahab said it was too early to determine whether the fire broke out accidentally or was deliberately set, adding that the truth would emerge only after an investigation.
The Karachi mayor said the files in his possession are unsigned, while those signed by him are subsequently sent to the offices of the relevant officials.
“I avoid making allegations, and I do not want anyone to allege now that some record has been destroyed,” he said.
Wahab said the Chief Fire Officer had been tasked with investigating the incident.
The fire broke out earlier today in a kitchen adjacent to the Karachi mayor’s office at the KMC head office. The blaze completely gutted the mayor’s office.
