PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Tuesday dismissed media reports claiming that party founder Imran Khan had welcomed the dissolution of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, clarifying that he made no such remarks during his recent meeting with lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar at Adiala jail.
Speaking to reporters in Rawalpindi, Gohar said a television channel had misrepresented Imran’s position. He added that all PTI lawmakers in the provincial assembly remained loyal to the party founder and there was no forward bloc within the party.
Gohar maintained that any decision regarding the provincial government or the nomination of a new chief minister would be made by Imran himself, stressing that no party member could independently claim the position.
Welcoming Safdar’s meeting with Imran, the PTI chairman said restrictions on access to the incarcerated leader had contributed to rising political tensions.
He noted that the meeting was the first since April 8 and suggested that regular access could have helped prevent the political situation from escalating.
Gohar also dismissed speculation about Imran’s possible transfer from Adiala jail to Islamabad or Bani Gala, saying no such proposal was discussed during the meeting. Regarding a possible alliance with JUI-F, he said the party would consider it if the situation arose.
