At least five people died and some others got injured as three different factions opened heavy fire against each other in Nizampur locality of Akora Khattak circle, Nowshera, Monday.

This shootout broke out due to dispute over illegal gold mining in the area and continued for many hours leaving the local people scared and frightened.

According to the first report, four people from one side and a young man from another died in the lengthy shootout. The dead bodies included those of: Mehran, a native of Jabbi Mandori, who was shot dead on the spot and four others from a rival gang.

The dead bodies have been moved to DHQ Hospital and Qazi Hussain Ahmad Complex Hospital to carry out some legal processes.

Cases have been lodged against two rival groups who had indulged in illegal gold mining in the area under the leadership of Ataullah and Saddam. The CO Akora Khattak and SHO Nizampur did not have any information regarding this incident.
