Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sri Lanka in the ODI tri-series final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi confirmed one change to the playing XI, with all-rounder Faheem Ashraf replacing Shadab Khan, who was ruled out on medical grounds after being struck by a bouncer in the previous match.
“We are going with four pacers,” Shaheen said, explaining the decision to field first. He also cited Sri Lanka’s batting approach in their recent matches.
Sri Lanka made one alteration, bringing in off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana in place of Eshan Malinga.
The toss marked the first time Sri Lanka had lost one in the tournament, having won all their previous tosses.
Pakistan entered the final after suffering an eight-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka in their last league fixture, while the Islanders were beaten by England in their final group match.
The hosts will be aiming to bounce back and secure their maiden ODI tri-series title on home soil, while Sri Lanka will look to maintain their competitive form and claim the trophy.
