Mehnaz, wife of renowned Pakistani film actor Moammar Rana, has obtained a divorce through khula from a family court in Lahore.
Family Court Judge Zahid Bashir issued a khula decree in Mehnaz’s favour. Her counsel, Advocate Khadija Siddiqui, presented arguments before the court.
In her petition, Mehnaz alleged that Moammar Rana subjected her to physical abuse and verbal harassment after consuming alcohol.
She further claimed that on several occasions, he verbally abused her while intoxicated in front of their daughters, causing them emotional distress.
Mehnaz stated that she married Moammar Rana on October 24, 1998, and the couple has two daughters. She also alleged that he failed to contribute towards household expenses.
According to her, family members made several attempts to improve his behaviour, but he refused to seek treatment.
She maintained that after 28 years of marriage, she could no longer continue living under such circumstances.
After hearing her arguments, the family court issued a khula decree in Mehnaz’s favour.
