The Trump administration is preparing to deport dozens of Afghan immigrants and asylum seekers to Pakistan, potentially as early as Monday, raising concerns over their safety and the possibility of their eventual return to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

According to NBC News, a senior US administration official confirmed preparations for the proposed flight, which has not been publicly announced. Rights advocates and families of detainees have also raised concerns over the planned deportations.

Some of those facing removal are relatives of Afghans who worked alongside US forces during the 20-year war in Afghanistan, making them potentially vulnerable to reprisals under Taliban rule.

The US Department of Homeland Security declined to confirm future removal operations, citing operational security, while the State Department said it had no plans to announce.

The timing and destination of the proposed flight have yet to be officially confirmed.
