ISLAMABAD: Three universities in Islamabad have been reportedly closed indefinitely due to security concerns.

According to a Geo Nes report, the decision to shut down Bahria, Air, and National Defence Universities followed a search operation conducted by security agencies in the suburbs of Islamabad late on Sunday.

The directives for closure were issued by the respective university administrations.

Students were notified about the indefinite closure late at night, impacting final examinations for university students.

In the context of heightened security measures in the federal capital due to upcoming elections and ongoing Baloch protesters' sit-ins at the press club, police sources emphasized the need for increased vigilance.

The day before, Balochistan Caretaker Information Minister Jan Achakzai, in a press conference in Quetta, criticized the Baloch demonstrators participating in the sit-in protest against enforced disappearances in Islamabad.

The provincial information minister expressed concerns about the possibility of the masked individuals in the sit-in being associated with banned terrorist outfits and their potential to incite terror incidents.
