The Punjab government has decided to ban the sale of 20-kilogram flour bags across the province, allowing only 10kg bags to be sold in the market.

The decision was taken at a video-linked meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where a detailed report on fluctuations in the prices of essential commodities was presented.

During the meeting, the chief minister ordered strict monitoring of interprovincial borders to prevent the smuggling of wheat and flour. She also directed all deputy commissioners to ensure that wheat cultivation targets were met in their respective districts and that wheat was cultivated on all government-owned land.

The meeting reviewed prices of 15 essential commodities, including vegetables, pulses and other food items.

The chief minister also directed deputy commissioners to ensure the storage of bananas, apples and dates in cold storage facilities across their respective districts.

CM Maryam Nawaz further called for measures to establish Mandi Mart outlets across Punjab.
