Huzaifa Rehman, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has claimed that the prime minister’s IQ is comparable to that of renowned scientist Isaac Newton, saying he often tells Shehbaz that his intelligence is close to Newton’s.

Speaking about the prime minister’s working style and his approach towards cabinet members, Huzaifa Rehman said Shehbaz Sharif works from 6am to 10pm daily and convenes a federal cabinet meeting every week.

He said the prime minister does not tolerate corruption or incompetence and does not allow individuals involved in such practices to remain close to him. According to Rehman, ministers whose performance falls below expectations cannot retain the prime minister’s confidence.

Rehman made the remarks in response to complaints by Qaiser Sheikh, who has said during media interactions that the prime minister does not give him time for meetings.

He maintained that members of the federal or provincial cabinets could raise their concerns at the cabinet level. He also recalled that Qaiser Sheikh was initially appointed as Minister for Maritime Affairs before being moved to the Ministry of Privatisation, adding that the matter had also been discussed at the cabinet level.

Describing Qaiser Sheikh as a senior figure, Rehman remarked that people over the age of 70 generally tend to raise such complaints. He also referred to PTI founder Imran Khan, who is over 70.

Rehman further said Shehbaz Sharif maintains very high standards of competence. He claimed that, if given the choice, the prime minister would have removed 52 of the 55 cabinet ministers.

“I frequently tell the prime minister that his IQ level is close to Newton’s,” Rehman said. He also humorously remarked that he believed he would continue to remain part of the cabinet.

Addressing criticism from federal minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Huzaifa Rehman said Salik belonged to an allied political party and it was natural for coalition partners to express reservations or criticise government decisions.
