Authorities have finalized a comprehensive winter tourism safety plan for Murree, deploying emergency services, surveillance systems and snow-clearing machinery to protect visitors during the upcoming snowfall season.

The initiative, titled ‘Mission Safe Winter’, involves the district administration, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Rescue 1122.

It has been activated following the first snowfall in the Galiyat region, with the official winter tourism season scheduled from December 15 to February 15.

Under the plan, 19 tourist facilitation centers have been established across Murree, Galiyat and connecting routes to provide emergency assistance and guidance.

Authorities will monitor roads and entry points around the clock through 181 Safe City cameras and thermal drones, while a special Pakistan Army contingent will assist with surveillance.

Hospitals have been directed to ensure round-the-clock availability of doctors and medicines. Meanwhile, the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) will monitor hotels and petrol stations to prevent overcharging and profiteering.

More than 20 snow-clearing vehicles, cranes and loaders have also been deployed at strategic locations. New Rescue 1122 stations have become operational, while an air ambulance strip along the Murree Expressway has been proposed for emergencies.
