Pakistan and the United States Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the development and logistics of key minerals, marking a new chapter in bilateral economic cooperation.

The agreement was formalised at the Prime Minister’s House between US Strategic Metals, the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), and the visiting US delegation.

Chargé d’Affaires of the United States, Natalie Baker, described the signing as a strong example of the enduring partnership between Islamabad and Washington.

She said US Strategic Metals would focus on the production and recycling of key minerals, terming such resources vital for America’s security and economic prosperity.

She also indicated that more agreements with Pakistan could follow.

The high-level American delegation, visiting Pakistan from September 7 to 9, includes representatives from US Strategic Metals and Mota Angle companies.

During their stay, the delegation held meetings with the Prime Minister, the Field Marshal, the Minister for Petroleum, and the Minister for Commerce.

Officials briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s extensive mineral reserves, including copper, gold, and rare earth elements.

Investment opportunities in both mineral processing and infrastructure development were discussed, with the US companies expressing strong interest in exploring Pakistan’s resource potential.
