The National Assembly on Thursday suspended PTI MNA Muhammad Iqbal Khan Afridi for the full duration of the upcoming budget session.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said the decision was taken due to repeated cases of “unparliamentary and inappropriate” behaviour.
The federal budget for the next fiscal year (FY26–27) is scheduled to be presented in the National Assembly on Friday by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The Speaker told the House that Iqbal Khan Afridi had repeatedly violated parliamentary rules and that complaints had also been received about his conduct towards National Assembly staff. He said the lawmaker had misbehaved with employees, including the director general (media), and also with security officials.
Sadiq further stated that the MNA had acted improperly outside Parliament as well, including an alleged clash with police near a checkpoint close to Serena Hotel.
He said such behaviour could not be accepted and ordered that the member be removed from the House. Afridi has also been barred from entering the Parliament House and its premises during the budget session.
The action came after a motion was presented by PML-N MNA Farah Naz Akbar, which was approved by a majority vote in the House.
