‘I was followed for two days and threatened:' Dr Summaiya tells Mir Raza commission

Dr Summaiya told the judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza case that she was followed by a motorcyclist for two days and later received threats.

During the hearing, Dr Summaiya said she had put her career at risk by pursuing the case.

“I was followed on a motorcycle for two days,” she told the commission, adding that she was also threatened.

She alleged that she was told that the people involved would “go easy” on her if she recorded the death as a suicide.

Dr Summaiya further said a public campaign was being run against her and described the matter as a test case.

She told the commission that she had filed a complaint with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over the alleged threats and harassment.

When asked about her superior, Dr Summaiya said the secretary health was her boss. The commission then asked whether the secretary health was also the boss of Dr Osama.

The commission also asked Dr Summaiya whether she required security. She said she did not need police protection.

The commission offered to direct authorities to provide her with Rangers security after she said her residential address had been made public on social media.

The commission said it would write to the Sindh inspector general of police over the matter and directed its focal person to inform the chief minister and interior minister, saying such conduct was unacceptable.
