A 20-year-old Saudi student, Mohammed Al-Qasim, was killed in an unprovoked knife attack in the Mill Park area of Cambridge on the night of August 1. Al-Qasim, who had been in the UK for a language course, was found by police with serious injuries and succumbed shortly after.
Originally from Saudi Arabia, Al-Qasim was enrolled in a 10-month language program at EF International Language Campuses in Cambridge. He was also known for volunteering at the Haram in Makkah, where he served during his time in Saudi Arabia.
Following the incident, Cambridgeshire Police arrested two suspects. Chas Corrigan, 21, from Cambridge, was taken into custody after a knife was recovered in his possession.
A 51-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Corrigan was remanded in custody on Monday and is scheduled to appear before Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today (August 6).
