The Sindh government will launch an internship programme for graduates in November through its Iwork4Sindh platform, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Thursday.

In a statement, the minister said the initiative aimed to help young people gain practical experience and improve their professional skills. The government was also preparing the next phase of in-person short courses for skilled individuals in collaboration with companies, with training designed to meet market requirements.

Memon said traditional education alone was no longer sufficient to secure employment, stressing the importance of practical skills and professional training in preparing young people for the job market.

Giving an update on the platform, he said Iwork4Sindh had received more than 5.3 million visits, with 137,770 registered candidates and 726 registered companies. The platform currently listed 26,677 active job opportunities, while the number of applications submitted had reached 480,000.

Over the past three months, 4,800 candidates had completed various training courses, while around 6,000 others were currently enrolled in different programmes, he added.

Career counselling services were also being provided to help young people make informed career choices, with 18 to 20 sessions held every week, Memon said.
