Iran's military announced on Monday that the first wave of its attacks on Israel since the April ceasefire had concluded, but warned that strikes could resume if Israel continued its attacks on Lebanon.

The announcement came after a fresh exchange of hostilities between the two regional rivals. Israel launched strikes on Iran following missile attacks fired by Tehran late on Sunday, marking the first direct confrontation between the two countries since the ceasefire.

There was no immediate response from Israel to Iran's latest warning.

Amid the escalating tensions, US President Donald Trump called on both sides to halt military action, urging Israel and Iran to “immediately stop shooting”.

The renewed conflict has raised concerns about regional stability and threatened ongoing US-led efforts to broker a peace agreement aimed at ending the war.

The exchange of attacks also rattled global energy markets, with oil prices rising by around 4%.

According to Israeli authorities, one of the targets was a petrochemical facility in southwestern Iran that Israel said was involved in the production of ballistic missiles. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted a similar facility in the Israeli city of Haifa.
