Ghalibaf warns of ‘unimaginable response’ to any aggression against Iran

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that Iran will deliver an "unimaginable response" to any attack against the country, stressing that the Iranian nation will not be intimidated by the United States or yield to its threats.

The remarks came after Iran's army announced that its air defence systems had intercepted and downed a US-manufactured LUCAS drone near the southern coastal city of Bandar Abbas on Sunday, Reuters reported, citing the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

Ghalibaf said the United States could not be considered a reliable partner unless it changed its behaviour, adding that Washington's claims would remain meaningless without concrete action.

"The US must abandon coercion and greed and offer genuine compensation," he said, referring to Iran's allegations that Washington had violated its commitments.

The Iranian parliamentary speaker reiterated that Tehran had nothing further to add to its position, arguing that the United States had placed itself in a complicated situation due to its own calculations.

Iran's army identified the aircraft as a US-made LUCAS unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The LUCAS is a low-cost, expendable attack drone based on Iran's Shahed-136 drone, according to US military officials and defence experts.
