The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to issue no-objection certificates (NOCs) to national cricketers wishing to take part in the Afghanistan Premier League (APL).
Citing sources, reports said that former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram had been offered a mentor’s role in the league. However, he decided not to go against the PCB’s policy.
The PCB has also decided not to grant NOCs to Pakistani cricketers for participation in the tournament.
It may be noted that former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has already joined the Afghanistan Premier League and is participating in it as a British citizen.
He has been picked by Kandahar Warriors in the Platinum category of the APL players' draft. He was the Warriors' first pick at Tuesday's draft, ahead of veteran Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi.
Amir, who lives in England, acquired British citizenship in May this year and holds a UK passport.
