The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday raised concerns about the health of its incarcerated founder Imran Khan, claiming his blood pressure had climbed to 192 in recent days.

The party called for his immediate admission to Shifa International Hospital, where he could receive medical care under the supervision of his personal doctors.

The demand follows a meeting between Imran and his lawyer at Adiala Jail on November 2, during which the former prime minister reportedly shared concerns about his deteriorating health.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has permitted Imran to meet his family, legal team and other associates twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, his relatives and party leadership have repeatedly complained about difficulties in securing access to him despite court directives.

Following the lawyer's meeting, Imran's sister Rubina Khan said her brother had reported a blood pressure reading of 192 and raised concerns about the medical facilities available to him in prison. She also pointed out that his lawyer had been granted a meeting after a gap of seven months, describing access to legal counsel as a fundamental right of prisoners.

Rubina maintained that Imran had no previous history of high blood pressure, adding that his readings had been normal until a year ago. She said the family was concerned about the sudden development, particularly given his age.

Calling for proper medical attention, she demanded that Imran be shifted to an independent medical facility in Islamabad and treated in the presence of his personal physician and a doctor nominated by the family.

She also cited concerns previously raised by the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, UN experts, the UN Committee Against Torture and Amnesty International regarding Imran's detention and treatment.
