ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to cancel the licences of petrol pumps that fail to provide customers with relief under the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Programme.

The directive was issued during a meeting chaired by the prime minister to review progress on the fuel relief initiative.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the programme's implementation and transparency. He also appreciated IT Minister Shaza Fatima for developing a monitoring system and an effective dashboard to oversee the scheme.

The prime minister said simplifying the registration process and procedures for receiving subsidies had increased enrolment, allowing more deserving citizens to benefit from the relief.

According to an official statement, he also instructed authorities to revoke the licences of petrol pumps that refuse to extend the facility to eligible customers.
