LAHORE: Former federal ministers Muhammad Zubair and Fawad Chaudhry have raised questions over the payment documents submitted to the Punjab government in connection with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s private London trip on a government aircraft.

Fawad Chaudhry criticised Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, saying she should present the original payment receipt instead of what he referred to as the “Qatari letter.”

He also shared a post by Muhammad Zubair on social media.

Zubair claimed that the submitted deposit slip was incomplete and lacked several details required for processing.

He said the document did not include an account number and questioned whether any bank would accept or stamp it.

He further pointed out that the section for the authorised signatory did not bear a signature. According to Zubair, the document also failed to specify the currency of payment, whether the payment would be made from a current or savings account, or the name of the account holder.

Zubair alleged that the receipt, in its current form, would not be processed or cleared by a bank.

The controversy follows Maryam Nawaz’s recent private visit to London, during which she travelled on a Punjab government aircraft. The chief minister has said that she personally covered the expenses incurred for the use of the official aircraft.
