Lawmakers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) have expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in attacks by street dog s across Karachi, particularly in Quaidabad and surrounding areas, where women, children, and even police personnel have been mauled.
In a joint statement, members of the Sindh Assembly belonging to Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan Haqparast accused the government as well as the civic bodies of criminal negligence, saying that citizens now have to choose between street criminals and street dogs.
The latest that Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan Haqparast leaders pointed out was the assault on a woman and a police officer in Quaidabad.
The MQM demanded strict action to start campaigns to sull or sterllise stray dogs.Six cases of dog bites were registered in Bagh Korangi in a single day, most of them involving children.
The injured were taken to Indus Hospital, where Rabies Prevention Clinic Manager Dr. Aftab Gohar has confirmed that wounds have been cleaned, and anti-rabies vaccines injected as per medical regulations.
He explained further that the victims suffered severe injuries on their faces, shoulders, and hands, and this aroused suspicion of a possible encounter with rabid dogs.
