In a shocking case of so-called honour killing in Balochistan, brothers murdered their pregnant sister and her husband after inviting the couple to lunch, seven years after their love marriage.

A Levies official reported that the incident occurred in Nushki district when Shoaib Khan, a resident of Punjgur, was returning to Quetta with his pregnant wife and a brother.

The couple stayed at a private hotel in the Lakpass area of Mastung, where they were killed by armed men.

Levies officials stated that Muhammad Shoaib, from the Chitkan area of Panjgur, had a court marriage with Benazir, a resident of the Hazarganji area of Quetta, approximately seven years prior.

Shoaib and his in-laws had resolved their disputes regarding the marriage, and the couple was invited to Hazarganji under the pretence of sharing a meal. However, they were subsequently murdered.

After having lunch, the couple left Quetta and stayed overnight in a private hotel in Lakpass. Early the next morning, the woman's brother contacted them, discovered their location, and then killed both of them before managing to escape.

An initial report of the incident was registered under the section of attempted murder of the Pakistan Penal Code, and authorities have begun searching for the suspects.

According to Levies officials, the bodies were sent to the hospital for examination.
