US closes Peshawar consulate, shifts diplomatic work to Islamabad

The United States (US) has closed its Consulate General in Peshawar, with responsibility for diplomatic engagement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa transferred to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Unit (KPU) at the US Embassy in Islamabad.
In a statement posted on X, the US Consulate General Peshawar said that its official social media page is no longer active.
The mission asked people to follow the US Embassy in Pakistan on Facebook, Instagram and X for updates.
It added that information on its efforts to promote trade and commercial ties, strengthen security cooperation, and expand partnerships with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and across Pakistan will be available through the embassy's official website and social media channels.
