Rail traffic was disrupted after a freight train derailed near Wahab Shah Railway Station in Sindh's Matiari district, forcing the closure of both the up and down railway tracks, railway officials said on Sunday.

According to officials, all passenger and freight trains have been halted at various railway stations due to the suspension of traffic on both tracks.

Railway authorities said restoration work is underway to reopen the affected section. Eight derailed freight wagons have so far been removed from the tracks, while efforts continue to clear the remaining wagons and reconnect the damaged railway lines.

Officials expressed hope that the restoration work would be completed by this evening or night, allowing rail operations to resume.
