Security forces killed six terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan district, while two Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The operation was conducted on October 24 in the Zarkani area following intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists affiliated with the Indian-backed group Fitna al-Khawarij, the military’s media wing said.

According to the ISPR, an intense exchange of fire during the operation resulted in the killing of six terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.

The two soldiers who lost their lives were identified as Naik Ghulam Murtaza, 36, a resident of Gujrat district, and Sepoy Taseer Ahmed, 30, from Talagang.

The ISPR said both personnel fought bravely and sacrificed their lives while carrying out their duties.

The statement added that the killed terrorists had been involved in multiple attacks targeting security forces and law enforcement agencies, as well as incidents resulting in the deaths of civilians.

A clearance operation is currently underway in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining terrorists, the military said.

The ISPR reaffirmed that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam” to combat foreign-sponsored terrorism across the country.
