KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has issued its verdict in a long-pending case concerning the return of dowry goods, ruling in favour of the woman involved in the dispute between a former married couple.

The court dismissed the husband’s claim and accepted the woman’s position, bringing the nearly 19-year-old legal battle to a conclusion.

According to court records, the couple was divorced through khula in 2006, after which the woman filed a petition in 2007 seeking the return of her dowry items.

She maintained that her dowry included gold jewellery, furniture, and other household goods that were not returned to her.

After reviewing all evidence and arguments presented by both sides, the Sindh High Court announced its decision in favour of the petitioner.
