Lahore: The death toll from this year's monsoon rains in Punjab has risen to 21, while 154 people have been injured, according to the latest damage assessment released by the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The PDMA said that 15 people lost their lives in building collapses, three died from electrocution, two were killed by lightning strikes, and one person drowned in rain-related incidents across the province.

The authority also reported that 38 houses sustained partial damage as a result of the heavy rainfall.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, financial assistance ranging from Rs1 million to Rs5 million is being provided to the families of those who lost their lives, in accordance with the government's relief policy.

The PDMA has urged residents to observe safety precautions during the monsoon season, avoid staying in structurally unsafe buildings, and follow official advisories to minimize the risk of rain-related accidents.
