The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secured six out of eleven Senate seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in the elections held on July 21, while opposition parties collectively won the remaining five, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.

In KP, PTI won four general seats through candidates Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Mirza Afridi, and Noorul Haq Qadri. Murad Saeed received the highest number of votes among the winners. The opposition took the other three general seats, with PML-N’s Niaz Ahmad, PPP’s Talha Mehmood, and JUI-F’s Atta-ul-Haq emerging victorious.

On the women’s reserved seats, PTI’s Rubina Naz and PPP’s Rubina Khalid won one seat each. The two technocrat seats were split between PTI’s Azam Swati and JUI-F’s Dilawar Khan.

The elections were held after the swearing-in of members on KP's reserved seats, clearing the way for the long-delayed process. All 145 members of the provincial assembly reportedly participated in the voting.

Earlier, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur reportedly convinced four PTI dissenters to withdraw their nominations to avoid intra-party vote splitting. However, one member, Khurram Zeeshan, remained in the contest but failed to secure any votes.

In Punjab, PML-N’s Hafiz Abdul Karim won the Senate by-election with 243 votes, defeating opposition candidate Mehr Abdul Sattar, who received 99 votes. Out of 368 members, 345 votes were cast.

Meanwhile, internal tensions have reportedly emerged within PTI over claims that the Senate candidate list sent by PTI’s KP chapter was not shared with party founder Imran Khan. Senior leaders, including Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, denied the allegations.
