Trump threatens further destruction in Iran as Tehran claims US drone interceptions

US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington may have to “destroy the rest” of Iran, saying a decision on further military action would be announced soon, as Tehran claimed it had downed two American reconnaissance drones.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said he would prefer to avoid further destruction but might have to escalate the conflict. He said Iran could take 25 years to rebuild following the US-Israeli war.

Trump also asserted that Iran could not pursue its nuclear programme without Washington’s approval, amid reports of a proposal being exchanged through mediators.
