A National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) assistant director was shot dead by unidentified armed assailants near his office in Hayatabad, Peshawar, police said.
The deceased was identified as Fahad Khan, son of Sharoom Khan and a resident of Kafur Dheri.
According to Peshawar police spokesperson Alam Khan, Fahad was on his way to duty when he was attacked behind the NADRA office in Phase 5, within the jurisdiction of Hayatabad Police Station.
Police personnel rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and recovered eight spent cartridges of a 30-bore pistol. The body was shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.
