Earlier in May, the IHC had turned down their requests for suspension of sentences in the case after noting that their main appeals in the case were fixed for hearing.

"It is unfortunate that a woman prisoner who happens to be the wife of a former Prime Minister has been denied even basic human and medical rights," the political party stated.

A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar would hear the appeals on May 7. Consequently, the court deemed their petitions to be infructuous.

The court is respectfully requested to hear and decide upon, at earliest and meritably, the application of the applicant regarding suspension of her sentence for maintaining parity of justice and equity.
