Pakistan is observing the 149th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah today with respect and national enthusiasm. A public holiday has been declared across the country.

On this occasion, a guard-changing ceremony is being held at the mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan in Karachi. Major General Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry (Hilal-e-Imtiaz) is the chief guest, while a contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a salute at the mausoleum.

Throughout the day, various official and non-official events will be organised nationwide to pay tribute to Quaid-e-Azam’s role in the struggle of Muslims of the subcontinent and the creation of Pakistan.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born on 25 December 1876 in Karachi. He was a lawyer by profession and later emerged as a leading political figure of the subcontinent.

Through his leadership, he led the movement that resulted in the establishment of an independent state for Muslims. His guiding principles of faith, unity, and discipline continue to be highlighted on this day.

Despite the presence of prominent political leaders of the time, including Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, and Mahatma Gandhi, Muhammad Ali Jinnah succeeded in securing Pakistan for Muslims under the Two-Nation Theory.

He envisioned a country where all citizens would enjoy equal rights and freedom, regardless of their background.
