A motorcyclist has approached the Lahore High Court against a cumulative Rs90,000 in e-challans issued for riding without a helmet.

During the hearing of the petition, the petitioner stated that he was suffering from tuberculosis (TB) and wearing a helmet caused him severe discomfort and difficulty in breathing.

He said that Safe City cameras had issued him multiple e-challans at different times for not wearing a helmet, with the total amount reaching Rs90,000.

The petitioner said that he was ill and could not afford to pay such a large amount. He requested the court to order the cancellation of all the challans.

After reviewing the matter, the Lahore High Court directed the petitioner to first approach the relevant magistrate in accordance with the legal procedure for cancellation or waiver of the fines.
