Monsoon rains claim 12 lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in past 48 hours

At least 12 people have been killed and 18 others injured after torrential rains and flash floods that swept in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 48 hours, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The PDMA said the severe weather caused widespread damage in Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, and Buner, while rain-related incidents were also reported in Bajaur, Chitral, Lower Dir, Hazara Division, Kurram, and North Waziristan.

According to the official report, 18 houses were damaged as a result of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Of these, 15 sustained partial damage, while three were completely destroyed.

The authority confirmed that the fatalities and injuries occurred during the last 48 hours as rain-triggered incidents affected multiple parts of the province.

The PDMA has directed district administrations in the affected areas to expedite relief efforts and ensure that emergency assistance and essential supplies are provided to affected families as quickly as possible.
