An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has issued non-bailable warrants (NBWs) for the arrest of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Dr Mahrang Baloch in a 2024 case pertaining to inciting people by levelling “allegations against security institutions”.

An FIR was lodged by the Quaidabad police against Dr Mahrang on charges of inciting violence in the area in October last year.

The court directed Inspector Muhammad Yaqoob of the Quaid police station to arrest the BYC leader and present her before court on September 5, when the case is scheduled to be taken up.

"You are hereby directed to arrest the said absconding accused person mentioned above and produce her before this Court on 05-09-2025 at 08:30 am  (Judicial Complex Central Prison Karachi) along with this warrant when the case is fixed for executing of NBW," read the warrant.

"In case this warrant is not served, it may be returned to this court along with the process server and its detailed."

The BYC leader is currently in Quetta police's custody. Last week, an ATC in Quetta had extended the physical remand of Dr Mahrang Baloch and four others for 15 more days in police custody.

The police, however, released the fifth accused, Mama Abdul Ghafoor, a leader of the National Party, saying he was no longer required for investigation.

Mahrang Baloch, along with Beebu Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch and Bebarg Baloch, was produced before the ATC in Quetta amid tight security.
