A foreign airline flight travelling from Istanbul to Islamabad made an emergency landing in Azerbaijan after developing a technical fault while flying through the country's airspace, according to a media report.

Citing sources, the media report said that the aircraft encountered the problem while over Azerbaijan, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency. FlightRadar24 data indicated that the Airbus A330 experienced a disruption in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals, after which the pilot issued an emergency alert.

Following instructions from air traffic control, the aircraft landed safely at Baku International Airport. The flight had been scheduled to arrive at Islamabad Airport at 3:35pm.

Passengers were disembarked and shifted to the terminal while engineers began work to rectify the fault.

The flight later resumed its journey, with passengers reaching Islamabad after a delay of around eight-and-a-half hours. The return flight to Istanbul was also delayed by nearly nine hours.
