Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s son Kasim Khan believed that his father’s incarceration would only end with the intervention of US President Donald Trump. He said if the president “makes a statement” for him, Khan would be released.

The statement came after they visited the US, which was concluded without any meeting with an official from the Trump administration.

As part of the campaign to advocate for their father’s release, the brothers also met Richard Grenell, a close aide to Donald Trump.

However, sources said the meeting was unplanned and took place during a pre-scheduled gathering Grenell was having with a Sikh delegation, and it was more of a photo opportunity than a substantive discussion.

In their recent appearance on Piers Morgan’s show, when Kasim Khan was asked if he would have a message for the US president Donald Trump, in response, he sees Trump as the only person who “can make the situation different”.

Kasim recalled his meeting with Grenell, who described “a big advocate” of Imran Khan and shared posts on X, favouring Khan. “We know Trump had a great relationship with our father and vice versa; they had great conversations when they were both in office, and they seem to have mutual respect with one another.”

“If Trump were able to make a statement in any way, speak to the establishment over there, our father will release, and he’ll be one of the very few people whose conversation can impact, and we’d love to have a conversation with him, and hope for some help for our support,” he said.

Khan’s elder son, Sulaiman, expressed worries over his prolonged disconnection with his father, stating that it has been three years since his last meeting with Khan, and added that they also haven’t had a telephonic conversation with father for at least four months.

Maintaining brother’s stance, Kasim demonstrated worries about her father’s health, describing it as a painful situation. He recalled Imran Khan’s earlier incarceration day when they regularly had conversations with their father.

Imran Khan’s sons said they usually do not speak publicly, but now they are frustrated because they have not been in touch with their father for so long.

“When we expressed our intention to go to Pakistan, some people from the Pakistani government told us that we would be arrested. We have received similar warnings from family members, insiders and various people,” Kasim added.

Despite this, “We are trying to get a visa, we have applied for a visa but there has been no response yet, let's see what happens,” he added.
